i had red as my main colour and thought of wearing red shoes with my dress.. when i put them on with my dress i was horified… so i decided against it and went with white shoes instead…
I think it’s one way to show your personality – (almost) every bride is in some big white dress – wear something that fits your personality underneath!
I’m wearing black satin pumps – our wedding colors are ivory and black , and it was just way to hard to find affordable ivory shoes with a LOW heel – so I went with black – and they’re gorgeous!
I think it’s perfectly fine! Honestly with most dresses you can’t really see the shoes and I think it’s a cute way to tie in her wedding color…it’s unique, not tacky
Well, they will certainly stand out! But maybe that’s what she’s going for. I’m sure she’s tried them on together and must be happy about how they look. Who knows, maybe she’ll change her mind, but if not, just let her wear what she wants. She’s obviously trying to be a little different, and that’s fine.
I’m getting married in July and my colors are hot pink and navy blue, I also do not have any color in my dress. But I will be wearing hot pink strappy sandals. I love hot pink and wanted to incorporate it in my attire with out it being too noticeable.
I don’t think most people will see the shoes until the dance or garter toss, but my dress is long and while walking down the aisle have you ever noticed the brides shoes?
It is her wedding, let her have fun!! When you see the pics and she is showing of her shoes you will see that was what she wanted.
It depends on the length of the dress. No one will really be looking at her feet… Come on, when she walks the isle it’ll be almost impossible and when she’s on the alter they’ll care less about her shoes and be watch her and him.
I highly doubt that all the people will be worried about her shoes. Think of the last wedding you went to…what shoes did the bride wear?
The dress will cover them if it’s a long full dress. If the guests are looking at her shoes then they need to get off the floor and go home!
It is your sisters wedding, support her and encourage mom to do the same! Pick your battles! Moms should know this! The more mom says “ewwww” to the purple shoes then the more the daughter will want to wear them! LOL This goes back to letting her get dressed on her own in Kindergarten!
Hope the wedding is beautiful!
I think its great! Let her have her fun… my gosh…how stuffy we have all become about weddings. If that’s the worst thing that she wants to be different, let it go, and tell your mom to relax…it will all be over soon.
I don’t think its tacky at all….its her wedding day! My wedding is in Aug and im going to be barefooted in my dress! Im just a slight bit taller then him….so i decided to just go barefoot!!! Let her have fun!!! Not a big deal!!!!
If she wore a shoe that covered a lot of her feet ( ~ then, yes, it may look horrible.
Something like these would be bad:
But she could get something that is strappy & purple… that would look really nice! It would add a very unique, personal touch to her wedding attire.
Something like one of these would look awesome =)

I think this is becoming a common way for a bride to show her personality and show some color even if she doesn’t want a colored gown.
If her gown is long, her shoes will only show periodically, and may not even show at all.
Most guests will think the flash of color is cool.
There is no reason why a bride should feel obligated to wear white/neutral shoes if she doesn’t want to.
Most guests could honestly care less what kinds of shoes the bride wore. If anyone does notice, most guests will be intrigued, not put off. It’s her day, let her do what she wants. I think matching her shoes to her wedding colors is a GREAT idea!
Brides should be able to do/wear whatever they want.
Seriously, I’ve seen it all as a Wedding DJ. One of my favorite memories is a fun-loving bride who, on her grand early-exit on the way out the door, showed her hot red platform heels to her guests.
They were still on the dance floor, and they all hooted and hollered with delight. Plus, well, I’m pretty sure she used the shoes again. Particularly that night

Are people even going to be able to see them? If it is only going to show during the garter toss or something, I don’t think it’s a big deal.

It will give it personality
Plus, with most dresses you can’t see the shoes anyway. It will be a fun story to tell the grandkids. haha.

I’m not much of a “girly-girl” per se, but for my wedding I’m going all out!….Sort of….
Here’s my dress:
And my shoes:
I’m also skateboarding with my HTB to our reception lol.
Unconventional? Yes. Totally us? Yes!

It’ll be different. If she wants to wear combat boots on her wedding day, she should! Hardly anyone will even see her feet. Let her have fun.
